Get Creative! The Ultimate Guide to a Unique and Adventurous Wedding

Unique and Adventurous Wedding

We’re all for traditional weddings but when it comes to making your special day truly unforgettable, we understand that you want something more than just wedding cake and a local jazz band.

Planning a wedding isn’t a walk in the park. It’s all about the venue, catering, décor, and entertainment. After all, they say that the devil is in the details!

Recently, a new trend began where couples would elope and go on a grand adventure. They would get married whilst travelling to a beautiful destination. And while that’s romantic, there have also been whacky trends that not only took the cake, but ate it too!

We’re talking about retail store weddings and doggy wedding attendants (although, that’s super adorable!).

But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a wedding that’s equally adventurous! There are plenty of ways to make your big day even more special.

Let’s take a look at some of the things you can do to make your wedding day unforgettable:

A Treasure Hunt

Yes, that’s right! A treasure hunt is a perfect way to make things fun. Why should you settle for just a local jazz band a not-so-interesting entertainer at your wedding? There are plenty of ways you can engage guests and keep them entertained!

You can participate in the treasure hunt too. Not only will it be fun, but you can also come up with your own rules as well. Divide everyone into two teams. It can be family vs. friends, or even girls vs. guys.

Everyone gets their own map and must find all the clues before the time’s up. Setting a time limit will make things even more fun and prompt healthy competition among the guests. Whoever finds all the clues and the “treasure” gets a special prize.

The prize can be anything you like. It can be a gift hamper or even a small trophy.

The Wheel of Fun!

Wheel see who wins this one! Well, technically everyone wins because it’s basically truth or dare. Except, it’s bolder and more adventurous! This is because, instead of truth, the wheel will only have dares!

Create a wheel that your guests will have to spin. Whatever dare they get; they will have to carry out. Who’s brave enough? You’ll find out!

To make the game fair, guests should be allowed to skip at least one dare they don’t want to carry out. Whoever fails to complete the dare given to them will have to do a penalty. And whoever comes out successful will win a small prize.

A Piñata

Who says that piñatas can only be for birthday parties? You can have your own piñata at your wedding! In fact, don’t go for a standard sized one. Go for something big and grand!

You can create one shaped like a disco ball or a giant horse; it’s up to you. You can opt for you and your sweetheart breaking it, or randomly choose a guest to do it.

Either way, piñatas are fun and having one at your wedding can help turn your special day into an unforgettable one.

Mini Golf

Love golfing and want to celebrate your love for golf at your wedding? This is one way to engage your guests and have a good time! Not only will having mini golf at your wedding help you connect with your family and friends, but it’s also a great form of entertainment.

And if you’ve got guests with plus ones, it’ll also be a great way for them to know other guests. Think of it as a teambuilding exercise.

And you never know, maybe one of your pretty bridesmaids will find the one for them through mini golf?

Sing your heart out! After all, it’s your special day and you deserve to spend it the way you want to! Set up a karaoke bar at your wedding venue and encourage guests to sing along.

To make things even more fun, you can hold a singing competition. It can be between the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. It can also be men vs. women, or better, you vs. your sweetheart!

You can go all out. If you’re a fan of the 80s, you can hold an 80s song competition. To make it even more challenging, you can even hold a rap competition!

Guests can come up with their own original pieces dedicated to the groom and bride. You can even come up with your own song parodies or remix your favorite songs. There are plenty of things you can do to make it entertaining.

Marriage Card Advice

This one is fun too in its own way. In this one, you will hand out cards to all your guests and they can write down words of wisdom they want you to follow. As the name suggests, they are required to give the newlyweds a piece of advice on what they think can help create a sound and successful relationship.

And while some might be a hit or miss, we guarantee you that there are bound to be words of wisdom from loved ones that will help you in the long run.

You can also encourage them to write down their favorite quotes about love. They can even write down a short poem they love. Not only will this help engage your guests, but it will also show that you genuinely care about what your loved ones think and what they have to say.

Jumping Castle for the Kids

Of course, why should we forget about the little ones? They’re also an important part of the wedding!

And the best way to keep kids entertained is through a big jumping castle. Kids are creative by nature and that means they’ll find different ways to have fun with a jumping castle. But if that’s not enough, we suggest going with puzzles, art, and even word games!

If you want, you can even have a jumping castle for adults. It’ll make for a great photography session. On top of that, it doesn’t hurt to release the inner child in you!

Dance, Dance Challenge!

Challenge everyone to a dance competition. And everyone has to participate, no excuses! You can create your own playlist or pick random songs.

Ever table has to come up with its own choreography. Couples aren’t exempted! In fact, after everyone’s done, the bride and groom should also show off their dance skills (it’s only fair!).

If you want to make the challenge more interesting, you can let everyone choose their own songs. They can also choose the type of dance they want to go with. The point is to let loose and have fun!

Ring Toss

Who doesn’t love this game? And if you’re holding an outdoor wedding, playing ring toss makes it even better!

If you want to make it more challenging, you can use wine bottles and traffic cones. Mix them both up and divide your guests into teams. It’s groomsmen vs. bridesmaids, flower girl vs. the page boy, men vs. women, and groom vs. bride.

Whichever team wins, gets to decide the penalty for the losing teams. It can even be a dare (hint: The Wheel of Fun.)!

Lawn Bowling

This is also one of our favorite games! Lawn bowling is an alternative to conventional bowling. If you’re having an outdoor wedding, then this is a fun way to engage your guests.

Arrange for a wooden bowling game for the venue and let loose! It’s simple and maybe a little old-fashioned but one thing is certain: it’s fun and a great way to spend time with loved ones on your special day!

Photo Scavenger Hunt

This is also one of our favorite games, mainly because it’s so much fun and everyone gets to participate! In this game, you divide your guests into two teams and send them on a mission to find locations that are Instagram-worthy!

They will need to take group photos at those locations. You can set a limit to the number of locations and photos guests can take. If you’re planning an outdoor wedding, this is the perfect game to keep your guests occupied.

Plus, if you’re busy with your own photo shoot, it gives your guests an opportunity to get creative!

And the best part is that the team with the most beautiful photos will get a prize. This will make it challenging and will encourage guests to get creative!

If you want to make it even more fun, you can also provide your guests with a list of things they should do in each photo.

For example: guests can try and build a human pyramid or take a mid-air photo. The options are unlimited!

Date Night Jar

Date Night Jar

This one’s similar to the marriage advice card idea. But instead of advice, guests will write down ideas for the groom and bride for date nights. Not only is this is a great idea, but it’s also fun, and whenever you can’t decide where to go for a date, you can pick a note out from the jar!

And the best part is that guests can get creative with ideas. There’s no limit to how many notes they can put into the jar. You can place a jar on every table and see what guests come up with!

Lego Creations

Let’s get creative! Here’s a fun idea: encourage your guests to build something out of Legos. Place Legos on each table and see what your guests come up with.

This will also help guests get to know each other. If someone has a plus one who doesn’t know anyone, it’s the perfect way to get them to participate as well. The team with the most creative ideas will be the winner.

The Freeze Dance

This one’s the best game for the dance floor. Get all those hesitant dancers to let loose on the dance floor. Create your own playlist or hire a DJ.

Guests are required to dance and then freeze every time the song playing is paused. If anyone moves, they’re automatically out of the game. They’ll have to pay the price with a penalty. Of course, this means you and your better half get to be the judges.

But this doesn’t mean you’re off the hook!

After everyone’s done, it’ll be your turn. It’ll be you vs. your better half. The winner gets a prize and guests decide the penalty for the loser.

Balloon Pop Wall

The balloon pop wall is also a great game because it’s similar to marriage advice cards game and the date night jar one. The guests can write different messages for the bride and groom. They will then put the messages inside of balloons, blow them up, and pin the balloons onto a wall.

When the bride and groom pop the balloons, they’ll be greeted by dozens of special messages waiting to make their day!
